Verdicchio wine and Le Marche region

The Verdicchio wine is produced in two different areas of Le Marche region.
There are two types of Verdicchio: Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi and Verdicchio di Matelica.

Short description:
Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi

Area of production: hills within the Province of Ancona and a small part of the Province of Macerata. The wines produced within the original Ancona area, the castles of Jesi, the name Classico is authorized.

Vines: Verdicchio grapes ( minimum 85%). Other white grape berries are authorized up to 15%.

Types:

Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi,
Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Spumante,  
Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Passito,
Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico,
Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore,
Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Riserva.

All these wines go well with all Mediterranean dishes, although the best combination is with fish and shellfish.

Dense and crystal clear pale straw yellow colour. Wine with many facets of smell and taste.

Verdicchio di Matelica
Area of production: part of the Municipalities of Matelica, Esanatoglia, Gagliole, Castelraimondo, Camerino and Pioraco within the province of Macerata and part of the Municipalities of Cerreto d’Esi and Fabriano within the Province of Ancona

Vines: Verdicchio vine. Other white grape berries are authorized up to 15%.

3 types: Verdicchio di Matelica, Spumante, Riserva and Passito.
Best combinations with first course and second course. Very good also with cold appetizers, cured meat and poultry.

Crystal clear and quite dense straw yellow colour. Medium or intense smell, complex or not complex wine aromas depending on the wine.
